Butterfly Pavillion

Coleman's parents came out for a quick weekend to see Makadie for her "Birthday". They flew in Friday morning and flew out Sunday evening. It was a quick but fun trip. On Saturday we went to the Butterfly Pavillion in Westminster, CO. It was amazing. We got to see butterflies coming out of their cocoons. They had tons of cocoons that they were watching and 'hatching'. Once they butterflies 'hatched' they set them free in the butterfly room. It was a big room filled with tropical plants and flowers for them to eat. It was very humid and bright. It got so hot we all had to take off our coats and sweaters. There were butterflies everywhere. The butterflies come from all over the world.

This was the entemologist lady who was releasing the butterflies. She expalined a little about each butterfly she released and answered questions.

Makadie got so excited everytime she spotted a butterfly.

We were standing in an open space and a big one landed on Coleman's arm and fell asleep. The outside of the wings help them to stay hidden from prey.

Go Cougs! Nov 4th BYU vs CSU

Getting ready for "The Game"

We attended our first BYU away game. We were able to go to the BYU vs Colorado State game on Nov 4th. It was in Fort Collins, about an hour drive from Lakewood. We hung out with other BYU fans at the Tailgate party, we ate yummy burritos almost as good as Cafe Rio's. It was a cold game! We were warm and bundle up though. The CSU fans started clearing out at halftime, since BYU was winning. We only won 24 to 3--but a win nonetheless!

Makadie was even decked out in Cougar Gear! "Aunt" Karen gave her this cute Cougar Cheer Outfit when she was born and it fits now!! She wore some warm blue pants under the skirt to keep warm.

Makadie made sure we were going to win and then fell asleep on Daddy's lap.

Happy Halloween!

Makadie was a chicken this year for halloween. She was very cute and loved looking at herself in the mirror with her costume on.

Numerous people told us that Coleman should have dressed like a chicken too and they could have been chicken little and chicken big!!

We went to a ward Halloween Carnival for kids and she was a winner in the costume contest. About 1/5 of all the kids won, but Makadie was the first one chosen!! Here she is with all the other winners!

On Halloween we got about 5 groups of kids for Trick or Treating! It was fun to see the costumes. The best was a 14 year old Green Umpalumpa!

We tried to get pictures of Makadie standing in her costume, but the only way we could get her to sit still was to let her dip into the candy bowl!

Jack-O-Latern FUN!!

Here is our attempts at pumpkin carving this year! I think this year's winner goes to Coleman for his baseball pumpkin that he was carving during the final game of the world series.

We also carved other pumpkins at our friends, Jeff and Tammy's house. It was a lot of fun. Jeff and Tammy lived right across the street from us. (It reminded us of the old times with the Varneys & Edwards--but just like that situation all good things must come to an end.) They just bought a house and not as close, but we all have faith that our friendship will last the trip up Wadsworth BLVD.

Roni's is the one with the hands on the face. It was a big hit at the ward party (we were suposed to bring our finished products), the kids loved placing their hands in the hand shapes. It was not until the party that we realized the hands are WRONG! You did not notice? Good!!

Here is the shot of all the Jack's --it did not turn out as good as the Varney's pumpkin pic's!

Happy Birthday Makadie!!!!

Man she is already one year old! What a wonderful year it has been. Makadie has been such a joy of a daughter. We have loved and enjoyed everyday of being with her. Each day she grows up a little more and that sweet and funny personality shines through.

The party we had was on Saturday and since her birthday was really on Friday we let her open her BIG present from us on Friday. It was a little popper car that she can ride and push. She loved it of course. We have friends that have little cars and she always enjoys playing with them, but they are hard for other kids to share with her--so now she can play with hers at home.

We took Makadie to get pictures in her pretty purple birthday dress. But she changed into her Elmo outfit that Uncle Ray gave her while we were in Alabama this summer! (It finally fits her now!) She was so excited she kept closing her eyes! But you can see the pretty dress.

We had a party for Makadie with some ward friends. The theme was ELMO! Makadie's favorite red friend. She can pick him out of anywhere. She used to watch Seasame Street when Mommy would take a shower, and she fell in love with Elmo. She loved all the Elmo decorations, and every time she saw them her eyes would light up and she would get this silly grin and say "Oooo" (rhymes with Mooo).

Roni made an Elmo cake (using an Elmo cake pan). It turned out really well--and Makadie loved it! How it looked and how it tasted. She had so much fun eating the piece all by herself. She ate all of her piece except for a few crumbs that landed on her lap and the floor.

We played stick the nose on Elmo as well as the "Nada Game". You take pull and peel twizzlers and have a race slurping them up without any hands! The "Nada Game" was a hit! Coleman was by far the fastest of all of us! I guess it helps when your Mom made up the game and you have been perfecting your game for years!

Championship Round~ Jean Daniel, Evrett, and lightning lips Coleman!

Opening presents was quite the adventure! Since Makadie could not open all the presents by herself all her little friends were her helpers! It was a bit chaotic, but still fun! This week has been fun getting packages in the mail all week for Makadie! I wrapped all the gifts that everyone sent and some of the guests brought some as well! It looked like Christmas someone said because there was so many! Coleman and Roni only got her a few! Makadie is loved by lots and they all wanted to show her that love! She got some pretty clothes from Grandma & Grandpa Workman, Grandma Iva, Uncle Chase, and Grandma Dottie & Papa Bill. Aunt Elia sent her a soft and cuddly Giraffe. Grandmas Iva & Sandy (and clan) gave her two piggy banks filled with money and a cute plate and bowl little people set, Grandma Dottie & Papa Bill also gave her little dolls that she will collect each birthday--she got a little girl with a 1 on her. They are very cute and Makadie loved holding the tiny little girl. Grandma Johnson sent her some money~~ She got a little chair, Elmo bowl set, Elmo coloring book, Elmo Bibs, Elmo/Cookie Monster giggling vibrating ball, books, princess puzzle, and more from the gang here in Lakewood! She really got some fun things! Thank you all for your love and kindness to our little sweetheart!

Grandma Sandy also sent a little "play" cake with dishes that plays the Birthday Song! Makadie and the other kids had a ball with it. Now, Makadie can remember her birthday by playing with her special birthday cake!

We just through this post together quick so that all of you could share in this special time with us! I will check over it later and fix the typos--so just enjoy now!
