Makadie Turns 2!!

Saturday October 20, 2007 Makadie turned 2 years old! Man the time has FLOWN by! Roni went to a Women's Conference put on by Deseret Book on Friday night and Saturday so we decided to postpone Makadie's birthday party to the following weekend. Coleman and Makadie spent the day working on the house. When Roni got home we decided to do a little celebrating.

We decided to go to Chuck E. Cheese's for her birthday. She likes pizza and we felt it would be a fun atmosphere for her.
As we entered they gave her a birthday balloon, a birthday crown, and 2 free tokens!
While we were waiting for our pizza Makadie watched the dancing characters on the stage and loved dancing to the music.

We had received a few cards in the mail and one package so we brought those along too! She loved opening the cards! She is really into Cinderella right now and two of the cards were Cinderella cards---man was she excited! You'd think she won the lottery.

When she opened the card from Grandma Dottie and Papa Bill she was thrilled to find her very own Band-Aids! She felt like quite the lucky girl! She also loved the stickers that were in the card too, but they did not get quite the same reaction as the Band-Aids!

She loved the card that Shane/Grum had sent. It had a butterfly on it--another thing she is really into right now! She got to open her first present of the year! "Hooray, a dolly!" She was so happy to find the treasure inside. It was a super cute doll just for her age. It is great for little hands to hold. It came with different outfits to wear too--but the outfits were plastic and just snapped on and off. It also came with a little brush to comb dolly's hair. Makadie and Dolly are already best friends. She had to sleep with her that night! She is really good at changing Dolly's clothes "all by myself" too!

Grum also gave her a pretty purple sweat suit with a butterfly on it!

After the presents and cards came the food! We brought some candles! She loves candles! She wanted us to keep relighting them over and over. It was cute because the first time we lit them she blew them out before we could sing to her. So we explained that we have to sing before we blow out the candles. So each time after that as soon as we lit the candles she starting singing Happy Birthday to Makadie. So she got sung to quite a bit!

Makadie was too excited to eat much. Chuck E. Cheese came out in costume! We were able to get a few pics with him! She thought this was great! I was a little nervous that she would not sit on his lap alone--but she did just fine!

After Chuck went into the back it was time to play. There was very few games for her age group, but she had fun riding the little rides. We helped her used all of her tokens and ended up with 96 tickets at the end of the night! So they let her redeem 100 points. She had fun picking out her prizes.

Which were a hand ring, a dragonfly ring, a top, a fish, and the most desired prize, a Tootsie roll!

It was a long day and we were ALL exhausted by the time we got home. But we all had a fun time and Makadie had a fun Birthday night!

We had to wait in line a long time to use the photo machine! But hey for only one token it was worth it!

GO ROCKIES!!!!

Since moving to Lakewood in April of 2006 we have become Rockies fans! We have been to about 9 games! The Rockies have won EVERY game that we have gone to. That might be one of the reasons we have become such good fans. It is great to have your team win whenever you watch them.

So the last few weeks have been amazing for us and our Rockies! In Colorado it is Rocktober right now! And we are loving all the hype.

Just in case you are out of the loop here is a bit of what has been going on!

The Rockies have won 19 of their last 20 games. Streaks are good and all, but what makes this streak so great is that the Rockies were not considered that good and were one of the lower teams in the league. But with all their wins and the right teams winning and losing we got the wildcard spot for the playoffs! And now we are 2 games away from going to the world series!

Here is a fun quote that was in the paper this morning we thought we would share with you!

"Still looking for an edge and aware that the run of the Rockies was made in solid black shirts, the homestanding Diamondbacks chose black for themselves, forcing the Rockies into road gray for Colorado's 3-2, 11-inning win in Friday night's Game 2.

When you play well enough to affect the other team's wardrobe, you have reached a special place."

GO ROCKIES!!!

Rocky Mountain National Park Sept 13-16 2007

We were able to take advantage of another great trip up to our friend's Chris & Todd's cabin in Glen Haven, CO. It is near Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park! We are so grateful to these guys for being so generous to let us use it!

Last year was our first year up there. I surprised Coleman for our Anniversary last August! Elia, Coleman's sister, was coming sometime in August to visit so we told her to come that same weekend so that she could enjoy the cabin too!

Since last year was so fun having visitors with us at the cabin we decided to invite people again this year. So we invited Coleman's parents to come out. They had been (and still are) doing a lot of traveling so we were not sure if they would be able to make it! We were so happy that they were able to squeeze us in their busy plans! Elia actually was able to get off work and come too! But since there was 3 of them and 3 of us they had to rent a car at the airport (our car only holds 5). Coleman's Mom, Nada's, brother and sister in law were also going to be in town that weekend, so we invited them up to the cabin as well. It was a full cabin, but there was plenty of room for us all.
Elia's birthday was a little over a week away so we surprised her with some birthday festivities when she arrived--BBQ lunch, cheesecake, balloons, flowers, a few decorations, and of course gifts! After the party we headed to Estes Park to do some window shopping in all the little stores. It was fun and items were even purchased. It really wears you out walking up and down those streets though (at least I was pretty worn out by the end of the day, being pregnant really slows me down a bit). Coleman's Uncle Floyd and Aunt Carol met us at the shops and we went to dinner! It was a fun day and evening.

There is a little store near the cabin that makes HUGE yummy Cinnamon rolls, so we ordered some for breakfast Saturday! Man they were tasty. After our tummies were full of the yummy rolls we drove into Rocky Mountain National Park to see the sights and try to see wildlife! We saw Bull and Cow Elk, Marmots, Stellar's Jays, and lots of other little critters. At one point along the way you can get out at a stop and climb another 200 feet or so and be at the highest point tourist can easily get to. I decided to stay in the car with Makadie while Coleman, his Dad, and Sister decided to make the trek! While at the top Coleman spotted a herd of Big Horn Sheep! They loved the view and felt that seeing the sheep made the high altitude climb worth it. (It was like 12,283 feet or something like that).

Saturday night we all came back to the cabin for steaks on the grill! They were yummy but we were all starving by the time the food was ready!

Floyd and Carol left for Utah in the morning while the rest of us cleaned up the cabin and enjoyed the peace and quiet of Glen Haven.

It was a very lovely weekend and we are so glad that all of our visitors were able to come and spend those 3 quick days with us!

We were lazy and did not take many pictures of our little vacation. Sorry guys! But Coleman's sister did! She has a blog as well. We will let you know when she gets pictures back!

I "think" I am such a big girl!!

On Sunday night (Sept 30, 2007) Coleman, Makadie, and I were in our bedroom talking. I put Makadie up on our bed so that I could change her diaper before going to bed. Just as I opened the diaper she started to pee, it spilled all over my-side of the bed. She had tried to warn me as I started taking off her diaper, but I was deep in conversation with Coleman that I ignored her request to "leave me diaper lone".

So I got a new diaper on her and she told me she wanted to go use the potty now. I told her she had just went and did not need to go again. She insisted so I tried another angle, I reminded her that her little potty was no longer in the bathroom so she could not go. She took off out of the room saying "use big potty". A few minutes later I heard her making noise in the bathroom. She was trying to climb on the big potty with her knee in the toilet. Luckily she had not got wet yet. Since Coleman and I were talking I set her on the potty and told her to call me when she was done. About 5 minutes later I sent Coleman in to help her down, she insisted that she "needed more big potty" so Coleman left her and came back to the room.

About 5 minutes later we heard bloody murder coming from the bathroom! Her little arms had gotten tired, and she lowered her bum to the water. It was so cold it scared her. After comforting her and explaining it was just cold water we asked if we could get a picture! She said "sure" and was all smiles this time!
