Sunday, November 18th 2007, I started having contractions while at church. There were a few ladies at church that came up and asked me if I was in labor. They said they could just tell! I knew that I was having contractions but really did not think that I would go to the hospital OR have a baby that day. So we got done with church and drove over to the "New House" to take some pregnancy pictures. We had been meaning to do it for quite sometime, but never got around to it. So these pictures were taken just hours before I went to the hospital to have Anika. I felt a lot bigger than these pictures actually made me look!
Makadie had been SOOOOO excited for baby sister to come!

This is what I saw when I tried to look down at my feet!
Once at the hospital it was determined that I would probably be having the baby soon, they would not be sending me home. But I was not progressing at all. 16 hours had gone by at I had not dilated past a 3, but my contractions were less than 2 minutes apart. Finally my contractions got REALLY bad and I was having multiple contractions at a time---this meant time for that wonderful EPIDURAL!! After the epidural was in it seemed that Anika was ready to come. Coleman thought that it would be hours and hours after the epidural (since that is how it was with Makadie). So he left to go get lunch and let me try and get some rest. Much to his surprise he returned to my room full of people! The Doctor told him that if he would have been 5 more minutes he would have missed it! The delivery went well and Dr. Hill and nurse Nicole and nurse Erica were amazing!! We are so grateful to them for all that they did to make the delivery a success.

Our friends that were watching Makadie brought her that evening. We were wondering if she really understood what it would mean for Mommy to have a baby and for her to have a baby sister. As soon as she walked in the room she started calling for baby sister and looking for her baby sister. We were surprised how much she really understood. From moment one she has been such a sweet and loving big sister. She adores her "baby sister". The hospital does a sibling birthday party for siblings of the new babies. They brought in a big cupcake with stickers and a candle. We sang Happy Birthday to Anika and blew out the candle. Makadie thought that this was great! And she really enjoyed eating the frosting off the cupcake.

Sweet cuddly moments with Anika!

Wednesday, November 21, was the day to go home from the hospital! I really really really wanted to sleep in my own bed (and Wednesday night I felt like I just melted into my sheets--it was so amazingly comfortable!!!).

Getting dressed for the trip home! This is the same little outfit that Makadie wore home from the hospital. My mom gave it to me, it is a preemie size. I was so tiny and had to wear doll clothes as a baby that my mom wanted to make sure that I had tiny enough clothes if my babies were as little as I was. My girls have both been long and skinny! So we need to wear the preemie stuff as soon as they come out, because they get too long for them pretty quick!

Anika wore the came outfit but we were missing the pink Cougar hat that Makadie wore home. We were planning on finding it to have her wear it home, but she came 2 weeks early and we had not gotten a round to finding it!

Wow!! We thought that this back seat was roomy--not so much with 2 car seats!

Anika is a sweet little baby and we feel so very blessed to have her as part of our family.
