Makadie's 3rd Birthday Party~~

We had a blast at Makadie's Party~ (We had to postpone it a week due to icky sick people at our house---mainly ME!) Her theme was Bugs! Here some of the decorations!

A Giant Flower with Butterflies! A beehive with cute little bees! I had plans to do ladybugs on a leaf, ants on an ant hill, and spiders in a web---but ran out of time! I loved how the decorations turned out and plan to hang them up in the playroom to enjoy them a bit longer!
We started the party by having the "Ants go Marching" around the Ginormous pile of leaves in the front yard! Then the kids got to jump in them and throw them everywhere! A fun tradition at Makadie's Birthday Party! Next we went on a bug Treasure Hunt in the back yard! I read clues and the kids ran around the yard finding the treasure bags with their Magnifying glasses. Then we opened all the treasures and put them in their party bags!

Next we made bug hats! The kids loved doing this, though not all of them liked to wear them--but we got them to keep them on for a picture!
Next we opened presents! This year we had Makadie open presents from us on her actual birthday. This kept the present opening shorter and more under controlat her party! Makadie got some really fun things! A Dora Backpack filled with card games, a Princess Memory Match Game, a Gift Certificate to Build-A-Bear, Fun Halloween socks, a Look-n-See (toy you put the circle cards in and it turns to see different pictures), paints and a paint pad, little ponies, and fun cards! Thanks to all of Makadie's friends for all the neat stuff!

Next PIZZA TIME! We had french bread pizzas with Juice and Strawberries! It was yummy and the kids loved eating outside!

Mia and Makadie
Hailey and Matthew (he thought the sun was BRIGHT--so we turned the table)

Happy Caden!

Silly Makadie and Sun Blocking Isaac
The Caterpillar Cake!

Makadie loved her cake--as did all the guests!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Makadie, Happy Birthday to you! Now make a wish and blow out more candles!!
The Birthday Girl~

It's GREAT to have GREAT friends!

Makadie and her birthday balloons!

Peek-A-Boo

Coleman brought home Makadie flowers on her birthday! She felt like such a special and big girl to get flowers just for her!
I know that Makadie's hair is in her face during her party--I was so busy putting on the party that I did not notice and Coleman was nice enough to get her ready--and he really doesn't do hair----YET!

Makadie's First Real Haircut!! Oct 22nd 2008

So Makadie's hair has needed a good haircut for quite a while. I tried to hold out to see if it would get thicker, but it just got longer and more stringy looking! When Makadie lets me DO her hair, it looks cute--but she does not like to keep her hair done--so most of the time it just looked ratty! I also held off trimming her bangs (I just trim her bangs myself) so that when she did get her real haircut, they could do the bangs too! The results of all of this holding off was a cute girl with not-so-cute hair. I really wanted to have cute 3 year old pictures--so we found a place that cuts kids hair for pretty cheap and close and made an appointment!

Before
Makadie with her clips in smiling at her stylist, Debbie!
Looking at mom with the clips in! Makadie with her new doo--she is watching Finding Nemo--so her eyes are not on me! The kids got to sit on seals and watch TV while getting their haircuts!

AfterMakadie got to choose a yummy sucker after she was all done! She was a great client for Debbie! She was fairly still and never complained and tried really hard to obey Debbie's instructions on moving her head this way or that way!
We had Debbie give Makadie less bangs than she had, so there are still some long pieces that we are clipping to the side for a while until they grow out! We felt it was a successful haircut and Makadie looks like a whole new girl!

October 20th 2008--Makadie's Birthday Day

Makadie woke-up to the table decorated and yummy french toast for breakfast! She got to open Grandma Nada's card at breakfast! She was very excited about the stickers inside and promptly stuck them all in wonderful places! One of Makadie's favorite things about birthdays is blowing out candles! So we try to make sure she gets to do it more than once! She loved the candles in her French Toast! We were so happy that Daddy was able to have breakfast with us! He is usually gone for work when Makadie eats breakfast and mommy was feeling sick so he was the breakfast chef--thanks Daddy.
Makadie looked adorable all dressed up for her birthday!
She wanted me to take a picture of her "doing a big jump" off the step!
I took some pictures before we left for preschool!
She is such a funny and happy girl!

Her LONG hair~ Her hair looked very cute today!
This was one of the favorites that I took!
Makadie took min-cupcakes to preschool to share with her friends! They all loved the little treat and Makadie got to blow out more candles! The cupcakes were chocolate cake with green cream cheese frosting with a candy pumpkin on top! They were mini-pumpkin patches!
We had some friends over for home-made pizzas and a peanut butterfinger pumpkin patch cake for dessert!
And of course . . . more candles! We were so glad that the Taylors and Goodells could celebrate with us! Makadie loves these two families and prefers them over us when we are all together! Thanks you guys for loving Makadie--she sure loves you!
Makadie was able to open presents from us. She got a little scooter with helmet and elbow/knee pads.
We were not sure if two was going to work!
Caden got to take a turn and felt like such a big boy!

Makadie turns 3--get ready for a few posts!

It is amazing the change in Makadie since she turned 3! She knows that she is 3 and now tries hard to act like a big girl. She will say things like, "Daddy, now that I am three you won't be grumpy with me!" She is such a big girl sometimes!

When she went to the doctor for her check-up the Doctor said, "Makadie, your kindergarten teacher is going to love you!" She is quite a pleaser and entertainer.

Her stats from her 3 year old check up were 33 1/4 pounds and 37 inches tall! She is still in the 50% for her height (people always tell me that Makadie is "SO TALL"--but she has been in the 50th percentile for the last 2 years--I guess we just know a lot of short kids!) Her weight she has been in the 25th-33rd percentile since she was about 4 months old. She has always been long looking because of how thin she is. Long and skinny! This check up her weight was in the 75th percentile. Which would be no big deal if she was in that range her whole life--but since it is such a big jump from last year the doctor asked if she drank a lot of juice and soda. She does get juice (diluted with 50% water) once a day. But she does not drink soda--occasional sip from Mom's or Dad's. So we need to make sure that she gets more exercise and make sure that her diet is healthier for her!

She had to get a flu shot, she was being a brave girl and even asked the Doctor if it was time. The Doctor gave us the option to do the flu mist and not the shot. Makadie seemed a little disappointed to not get the shot--we had been getting her used the idea for a few days that she was courageous and ready! I think we both enjoyed the mist she just breathed up her nose though! Absolutely painless and tearless!

Fall in the Rocky Mountains

We took a drive to see the Fall Colors in the Rockies! It was a WONDERFUL DAY and also very beautiful! There were so many pictures that we loved that we put a lot of them in a slideshow! I will choose a few of our favorite favorites and post them soon! Enjoy!

Makadie's photo shoot (35 months)

Makadie wanted to take some pictures too--since Anika got to take pictures! (and since this blogging thing is also part of my family history/online scapbook--you are lucky to get to see all the photo shoots of the girls!)
We have been trying to get her used to having her hair fixed each day! She really likes to have two pig tails and keeps them in for 3-4 hours at a time! Her hair is pretty fine and thin so it can look pretty ratty when nothing is done with it!
Our silly funny Makadie!
She had lots of fun hanging on the rail! She usually is not allowed to do this because it is right over some flowers (flowers which never really did much this summer--not enough sun!) Makadie loves to smile and laugh and make others happy!
Don't worry she is not stuck!
She loves to pose (herself and others)! She has been asking Coleman and I to stand this way or that way and do specific things with our arms so that she can take pictures of us! The poses are always very strange--but they make us laugh! She is still really into taking pictures!

She was the one who wanted to take pictures in the tree!
Probably not the best outfit to be hugging a tree in! Oh well!
