Random Magazines!!

So I have been randomly and mysteriously getting magazines in the mail addressed to me--that I did not order! The first one was Field & Stream--this magazine does not exactly scream "Roni". I know I like the outdoors and all--but? Our friend Rob has been the beneficiary of the first 4 issues! They are just perfect for him.

The second one is Bon Appetit--Now this one on the other hand I am excited about! I have only received one issue--so I'll have to wait and see if anymore show up in the mail.

Neither one of the magazines came with a gift note so I have no clue if this is a fluke or a gift from someone out there! Coleman's Grandma Johnson is really cute about magazines. She grew up not having little luxuries like magazine subscriptions, so when she was older and could afford them she subscribed to many. She likes to share that luxury with us and has bought us subscriptions as gifts many times. So we thought this was the obvious reason behind Field & Stream--and figured she must have just accidentally ordered this specific one! But Coleman's Mom assures us that Grandma Johnson is not behind the mysterious magazines!

So if ANY of you out there are responsible for these mysterious pieces of mail I would gladly like to know~ I will be keeping my fingers crossed that Bon Appetit continues to mysteriously end up in my mailbox addressed to me!!

Dress-Up Enrichment Night--Oct 2008

The Young Women in our ward wanted to have a dress up night with the Relief Society. We all brought our fancy dresses and dressed up and had a little fashion show. It was a fun night and we even had some of the older sisters dress up too!

I was able to wear my wedding dress. Luckily it is an empire waist dress--or there would be no-way these hips -that have had 2 children- could fit into the dress. It was fun to dress up and to be in my wedding dress again. It was a fun night!

The Aunts Come to Visit--Oct 8-13 2008

Coleman's Sisters Alita and Annette came to visit during their October Break from school. They left the heat of AZ and came to the cool fall weather of Colorado (actually it was very warm before and after their visit--but chilly during their stay--not their ideal but we still had fun).

We have a problem now when people fly to visit us--we don't have a car to fit everyone--So I stayed home and had a kid-free and husband-free day. They loaded up and took the Fall Colors drive up in the Rockies that we had taken the past weekend.

I packed a cooler for lunch for the crew and they found a beautiful spot to enjoy it! Here is a group shot of lunch--anyone notice who is NOT in the picture? She felt like such a big girl taking pictures in the Rocky Mountains! They were nicer than I am when it comes to using MY camera!

Close to Rocky Mountain National Park this beautiful castle/church adds to the scenery. When we took our drive the week before a wedding reception was taking place and we were disappointed that we could not stop to explore. I was sad to miss the opportunity to check it out! Next year maybe I'll get a chance!

Of all the days the Alita and Annette were here this was the warmest and nicest day. We were glad they got to get out and really enjoy it!

The week before we saw lots of Elk, both Cow and Bull. They were not as lucky to see the Bull, but they did get to see and enjoy some Elk!

Alita and Annette brought birthday presents for the girls. They got them some really cute clothes. We had to take pictures of the girlies in one of the cute outfits! We had a little photo shoot with Anika while Makadie was at preschool.

While they were here Coleman and I went to an AMEC dinner party and out to a movie. We say "Fireproof"--we had a great day and really enjoyed the movie. We also borrowed the Goodell's car so that we could ALL go somewhere together. We went to the Denver Aquarium and fed the sting rays--they were girlie screams by all the girls in the group during this! We then went out to dinner at one of Coleman's favorite Latin restaurants, Sabor Latina, they had a few Colombian dishes that we like. They have the BEST Arepas that we have EVER tasted!

Annette had borrowed my backpacking pack a few years ago to go to Europe. Recently we were using it for something and found a sock with $100 safety pinned to the inside of it. Annette had forgot about her emergency cash stash. When we told her about it she said we'd use it to do something fun when they came to visit. We had planned to go to Elitches (an Amusement Park)--but the weather was too wet and cold that we didn't. We did dinner and the aquarium instead! Thanks for treating us to a fun evening Annette! You can borrow the backpack anytime!!

We really enjoyed having Alita and Annette come. Makadie was sad to have them leave and asks all the time, "When do my Aunts get to come?"

Chase Remembered--We miss you brother!

It has been a year since my little brother "went to live with Jesus" as Makadie says. We still miss you and love you tons little bro! Chase passed away last Thanksgiving Day, in honor of him and this time of Thanksgiving I wanted to make a list of things we are thankful for. Feel free to leave comments on what you are thankful for too. I might add some of them to this post.

BYU vs CSU---Nov 1, 2008

Every other year BYU Football comes to Colorado to play! We were very excited that this was that year! Here are some pictures of our fun day in Ft. Collins!!

Our friends Andy & Melissa are also BYU Alumni and met us at the game!

Anika was quite the Cougar Fan! She looked mighty cute in her Cougar Cheerleading outfit that Karen and Brady gave us when Makadie was a little Cougar!

Makadie loved cheering for "E-Yi-You" by the end of the game she was saying "BYU" It was also very cute to hear her say "Gooooo Cougars!"

She got bored just sitting by us so she entertained herself a few rows behind us (there was no one sitting in these seats)

We invited the Goodells to go to the game with us, but since they are CSU Alumni they did not want to sit with the BYU Fans. At one point in the game Tammy and Caden came and found us to say hi!

It was an exciting but very stressful game for me! I know they say a game is good when it is close--but to tell you the truth I don't mind it when BYU just blows the other team away--like they did in the beginning of the season. It was a good game--but if the ending would have been different I don't know if I would think it was that "good".

So this is our personal attempt to get them in a picture "with" us!

"The game was as exciting a game you could ever see. Both teams played well throughout the game trading leads throughout. BYU did not disappoint as we got to see QB Max Hall connect with his two favorite targets Austin Collie (including a one-handed grab) and Dennis Pitta (including an end zone catch in which he was hit so hard his helmet went flying but he was able to hold on to the ball) as well as Harvey Unga make some spectacular moves in the ground game. The game ended with a final score of 45-42 as BYU capped the game with a winning touchdown drive that took just 1:14 on the clock to take the final lead. With only 22 seconds left BYU's defense came up big to stop the Rams in their last desperation attempt to score. " --Coleman W. Miller

Happy 29th Birthday Coleman!!

On Coleman's birthday I was sick so he persuaded me to take him out to dinner! We had a gift card to Bucca di Peppo. It's a yummy Italian place. We have been there a few times and really enjoy it (especially when we have gift cards!) We took a few gifts for Coleman to open!

We know a lot of people who have birthdays in October--so we had a joint Un-30 party for some of them! Coleman and Andy were turning 29 and Jeff was turning 31! We all met at Jeff's house for pizza and then went bowling. We had some awesome coupons for bowling--2 hours free with free shoe rental and a free pitcher of soda. We had 2 coupons so everyone was going to have a fun FREE evening! After 2 bowling alleys and lots of "just 5 more minutes" until your lanes are ready--we gave up and went back to the Goodells for yummy treats! We had brownies, pecan pie, and ice cream. Even though the night did not go as planned--we all still had fun and enjoyed celebrating with friends!

Coleman received a Pasta Maker from his parents (I helped to pick it out!). We had some friends at BYU who made their own pasta and invited us to make it with them once. We had a blast and decided then it was something we wanted to do with our family! I usually make Coleman the dinner of his choice for his birthday. This year he chose to use his new toy!

This is all the ingredients to make yummy noodles! (Eggs & Flour)

Once the noodles are cut they dry for a little bit!

This machine can cut Fettuccine, Lasagna, and Tagliolini noodles! We used the fettuccine cutter this time! Just to see the tagliolini we cute a few--they are the tiny noodles in the left of this picture!

We had so much fun making the dough (muscle power) and rolling out and cutting the noodles.

I made a white spinach sauce with chicken to go over the noodles! It was a tasty dish!

We have also made Spinach noodles with the pasta maker! They were very yummy and VERY GREEN! The green noodles would be very festive for St. Patty's Day or even Christmas--maybe the green noodles will become a Miller Family Tradition!
