Stake Pioneer Day Activity 2007

We went up to the mountains for our Stake Pioneer Day Party. They had dinner and activities. It was fun because they actually had activities that Makadie could participate in.

Our first stop was the Whirligig table. Makadie got to glue pieces of nature on a circle on a string. She put rocks, pine cone pieces, leaves, flowers, and more on hers. It looked fabulous. She could not model it because it was TOO wet with all that glue.

We then went fishing. She pulled out some fancy lips that whistle as you blow through it! She thought these were pretty cool! She calls them her "ips" or her "istle".

The we thought we should try something more athletic. The Bean Bag Toss! Makadie has quite the arm and is a pretty good shot. The people in charge of the game moved the bucket close so that Makadie could have an easy shot---but quickly moved it back to its regular spot due to her long throws! She even made a couple in the bucket!

Then we made a pretty beaded-noodle-yarn necklace. Makadie had fun doing this too, but the holes on the beads were so small she got a bit frustrated when she could not get them on. But she was willing to let Mommy help (which is not always the case these days) so we got it finished!

Our friends Jeff and Tammy were there too with their son, Caden. Makadie loves these guys! She is excited that Caden is a little bigger and a little less fragile so that she can play with him. Here she is giving him a big hug! She is a great hugger!! Then she thought that they should dance. I am not sure if Caden enjoyed it as much as Makadie, but he was a good sport!

Makadie's favortie part of the evening was the horses--ponies! She loves riding the 1 cent horse at the grocery store and "giddy-ups" all the time at Mias---but we were not sure how she would do with a real horse! She was doing great for the first of the ride, but then the pony started galloping and she was bouncing and this startled her! So that was the end of the ride. She would not get back on, but did talk enthusiastically about it to everyone after the ride was over! So I don't think this will be her last horsey ride!

On the way home from the party we stopped by Buffalo Bills grave. He and his wife are burried inside this fence. It was kind of weird because it was like a wishing well of sorts. There was change all over the grave. We found a sign saying all the money collected would go to help preserve and up-keep the grave and museum. Makadie really wanted to climb in the fence!
