Coleman had to take a trip for work to Nashville the middle of February. We were just going to go with him! I would love to spend a week in Nashville--the heart of country music! But due to the fact that Coleman would be working 16 hour days his company would not be renting him (us) a car, we decided not to accompany him. We would have never seen him and we did not want to pay to rent a car for 10 days! I did not want to stay home alone with the girls for 10 days so we headed off to Alabama to stay with my Grandma Dottie & Papa Bill!

Since we were there over Valentine's Day Makadie got to make our traditional Valentine Sugar Cookies with Grandma Sharon!
*
Sharon was SO GREAT with Makadie! She had the dough ready and chilled--then she let Makadie do it all. Makadie had so much fun being able to do all the different parts of the cookie making. I do not usually let Makadie "help" that much when she is "helping". This was a really special experience for Makadie and make me realize that sometimes we moms need to be a little less worried about how the cookies will turn out and more about the kids helping make the cookies! And by the way--the cookies turned out awesome--they were very yummy!

Step 2. Time for the cookie cutters! She used a cupid and heart cookie cutter!
Grandma Sharon helping Makadie put enough pressure on the dough!
Step 3: Use the spatula to pick up the cut out cookie dough!
*Step 4: Place it on the cookie sheet!
*
*Step 5: Gather up the extra dough and squish it up to make it ready to roll out again! I love this picture! Grandpa Ronnie told her that she was not really baking until she had flour on her face! It was not too long before she did!
*
* Step 6: Decorate the cookies! So I think this was Makadie's favorite step, she was in heaven for the fact that she was able to have full reign of the Valentine sprinkles!
Step 7: Admire the beautiful and yummy masterpieces!
Makadie used the last bit of dough to make her own cookie--you know the traditional Valentine Snake?? Yeah who knows where the snake idea came from, but she was very excited about her snake cookie--it's the long snake like one in the middle of the picture!
