My cousin, Tiffany, has been through a lot this year with her darling son, Drezdin. Here is a picture of her and the little fighter! She is helping the March of Dimes in a walk to thank them and to help such a good cause. Please take a minute to read her letter below and get a glimpse of our little Miracle Baby cousin! I am asking you to sponsor me in March for Babies. Your gift will help babies who are born too soon or very sick. And it will help defeat serious problems like premature birth and birth defects.

I would like to give you a little insight of why this charity is so close to my heart. When we were first told in the hospital what the outcome of giving birth to a 23 week baby was, it was all gloom and doom. The outcome seemed to be almost positive for a baby that would not make it and if by chance he did, he was likely to have brain bleeds, lung problems, heart problems, cerebral palsy, blindness and the list goes on. Well as we all know, Drezdin came anyway and he was perfect weighing 1lb 3oz and 11 inches long. Not only did he come, but he came with no brain bleeds! His eyes were still fused together, like a puppy, his skin was translucent and he required a ventilator to breathe but he is our miracle baby.

We had no idea the rollercoaster ride we were in for. Every day was different and came with a new challenge. As the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) doctors told us, “two steps forward and one step back.” With this came the voice in the back of your mind, how are we going to pay for all of this? A baby that needs to be hospitalized for how long, the helicopter ride we took here, all the missed work, how are we going to do this? And then an Angel appeared in my hospital room. She came in, asked a few questions and then told me “I don’t want you to worry, all of Drezdin’s care will be taken care of, you will have a $0 family liability whatever your insurance doesn’t cover it will be taken care of.” She left as fast as she came and left me speechless. How blessed we were especially not knowing that the doctor bills would reach well over a million dollars.

After spending countless hours in the NICU, I learned about the March of Dimes. They were amazing to say the least, a charity that provided funds to make sure premature babies received the care they needed. A charity that provided all of the moral and emotional support that you needed, and wow do you need a lot. And most important a charity that funds programs that researches premature birth.

We were so blessed that Drezdin and his family could be at our Slade Family Reunion this summer! It was so much fun hanging out with him and his parents! This last photo is while camping! He was quite the trooper~

It's so wonderful to see these babies make it! My heart goes out to her family as we know the ride they are in for the rest of his sweet life!
That's Tiffany Gouladdle! I had no idea. Poor thing. I'm so glad he's doing well and I didn't know about the march of dimes, but I can look into it. Thanks for sharing.
