Easter Egg Hunting at Heritage Square

We heard about a free fun Easter Egg Hunt at Heritage Square in Golden, CO so the Saturday before Easter we got our baskets ready and headed out! We had read a few different start times to the festivities so we were actually there early! We walked around and checked out the place~
*
Anika felt so independent being able to roam around the basically empty amusement park!
We had fun putting our faces through the cut outs while waiting for things to start!
*
Anika as Geppetto and Makadie as Pinocchio

Makadie as Geppetto and Roni as a donkey!
Elvis and Peggy Sue!
After waiting almost an hour for things to start we found out that the Easter Egg Hunts were not for an additional hour, but we the amusement park rides would be opening so we could spend time on them while we were waiting! I guess they got us! So of course we bought a few tokens for Makadie to ride--I guess we will be more informed next year if we decide to come back!
*
Makadie was very excited to try some rides!
Flying away in a balloon! *
I liked this picture of Makadie on the swing because she is having a great time but you can also see Anika and Coleman in the background!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
So the Easter Egg Hunt portion of the day was a bit lame! All the kids we gathered in an area watching as employees took large trash bags filled with eggs and dumped them on the grass. After they were done dumping they told which age group was first and said go! With-in 2 minutes all the eggs were gone and it was time for them to dump more trash bags for the next age group. There were so many kids that it went so quick. Makadie and Anika still had a blast, but Makadie did toss a few of her eggs out around a little girl that did not get any so that she could pick some up!

Inside the eggs were candy!!

We actually picked up these two eggs for Anika--and we were lucky we got them! We wanted her to feel like she was getting eggs so we would drop them near her and let her pick them up again! A few times other kids tried to snag them! Don't worry Daddy Coleman was there to make sure she got her two eggs!
*
They had visiting time with the Easter Bunny but there was a really long line, so we tried to squeeze Makadie in between age groups for the Easter Egg Hunt. This is as close as she got before the Easter Bunny was told he needed to go somewhere!
*
On the way out of the park we found one more cut out! Besides being a bit criminal--this was our favorite cut-out!!
We had a wonderful time together even though we were expecting a bit more out of the experience! The amusement park was actually great for small children and pretty well priced! We might have to go there again, but maybe not for Easter Egg Hunts!
