On Anika's first birthday we packed a picnic lunch, picked Makadie up from Preschool and Daddy up from work and headed to the Zoo. Anika (and Makadie) LOVE animals so we felt that this was an appropriate way to celebrate Anika's big day. The weather was AMAZING! It was a treat to be out as a family in such great weather and just enjoying it all! 
A friendly Grandpa and granddaughter were eating their lunch nearby and he insisted on getting a family shot!
Then when we had lunch all set up he insisted on taking another one because "oh yeah, this is a good shot!"

They were quite good at jumping!
Makadie thinks she is looking at the camera because her face is forward! We have been trying to teach her that her eyes need to be forward too--but she gets bored just looking forward and her eyes just start to wander and look all around!
The Zoo Keeper was feeding the ducks when we walked by them. It was a fun sight to see all the ducks in one spot.
