We went up to Georgetown for the 4th of July! It is a small town up in the mountains near Denver. We went there 2 years ago for the 4th and just loved it! Coleman and I both grew up in small towns and enjoy the small town 4th. In the city you just don't get the same hometown feel!

Coleman hauling the kids from the car to the parade!
We got there early so we found the perfect spot under a tree--gotta love the shade on hot summer days!
The parade was pretty simple, there were no floats, but we still enjoyed it. A lot of fancy and classic cars, horses, llamas, bikes, fun peddling vehicles!

The kids were in heaven with all the candy that was thrown!
Makadie and Brandon collecting more candy for the loot (that their parents would eat the majority of!)
Anika wanted to check out the loot too~
Brandon, Michael, Amy, and Tyler
Coleman and Anika with her first sucker!
I saw Coleman trying to give her a lick and scolded him--He then pleaded that Makadie got to eat a sucker at her first parade (it kept her attention for a picture--she did not get all of it). So I gave it and let Anika enjoy her first sucker! (She did not eat much of it--she was slobbering so much that Coleman was getting drenched--)
After the parade we had a picnic in the park and listened to a band play fun music! We were all starving--so lucky you no pictures of the yummy lunch!

We took a family shot at this same spot 2 years ago! It might become the traditional Georgetown photo op!
After the picnic we walked into the historic downtown. Here is DK being the macho nice Uncle and carrying Makadie's umbrella! Thanks Uncle DK!!

We got some yummy homemade ice cream in one of the little shops! Makadie fell asleep finishing hers off! She was quite the sticky little girl when she woke up!
